About the Center of Cultural Regionalistics
An informal border research center consolidating countries of Lithuania, Poland, Belarus exists already for some years. The Region is perceived as former Grand Duchy of Lithuania, where nations are affected by political transformations both globalization challenges. The center concentrates on interdisciplinary research around the Region including philosophy, sociology, art history, urban, religion studies.
The objective of research covers problematic areas of national identity, which are posed in the context of the Region and Europe. Research includes up-to-date methodologies of Historiography, Narathology, Biography Studies. The groundwork is done to held International Conferences in turn: Lithuania (LCRI), Poland (University of Bialystok) and Belarus (Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno); International Symposiums and Round Table discussions are regularly organized every year.
Selection of scientific publications “Regionalism as the Cultural Alternative to Globalization” (ISBN 985-417-720-3) was published at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno in year 2005. The research results are published in scientific journal “Perekrestki” (EHU) and since year 2008 started to be published in scientific journal “Limes” (English language). Founders of journal “Limes”– 4 different states institutions (VGTU Vilnius Gedinimas Technical University, LCRI Lithuanian Culture Research Institute, University of Bialystok, Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno).
The Center is open to all kinds of neighboring countries scientific initiatives. The results of research will be applied in present (EHU) and future (VGTU) educational programmes.
